I want to be the best photographer I can be - my clients deserve it. I'm sure you feel the same way.

These resources all help make me a better photographer, and I love to share the love! After all, our clients deserve the best from each and every one of us, right??

Keep in mind, there's no pressure for all (or any!) of these to fit into your workflow. These are what I have found that allow me to improve my services for clients, but you may have others that work better for you. The brilliant thing about photography is that it is completely up to the artistic vision of each individual photographer, so come up with a workflow using services that work the best for YOU.

Cameras & Editing Gear (FYI, I'm a Nikon Girly)

  • Nikon Zf - My current workhorse, and constant companion! Some dislike the Zf for ergonomic reasons (that handgrip is NEEDED, believe me), but I love how retro and tactile it feels! Plus, the quality of images it produces (aka the most important part) is STELLAR.
  • Nikon Z5 - My trusty backup camera, and the MUCH lighter companion to my trusty workhorse. If you don't want to shell out the money for a Zf, but still want a dual-slot Nikon mirrorless, this is the way to go!
  • Nikkor Z 28-75mm f/2.8 - Cheaper than the 24-70mm, and not an S-line lens, but this thing is awesome! A great zoom range for tight spaces, and still renders a beautiful image.
  • Nikkor Z 70-180mm f/2.8 - Like the 28-75mm, the 70-180mm is a cheaper (and LIGHTER) version of Nikon's S-line 70-200mm. This is a GREAT lens, and I never find myself wishing I had those extra 20mm on the long end.
  • Nikkor Z 40mm f/2 - Ahhh...my favorite, CHEAP, little lens buddy. This is my lens for fun, street photography, and travel! Super compact, and prime lenses in general are great for making you think about composition. When you don't have the ability to zoom, you get to do the work with your feet and mind instead!
  • Olympus OM-10 - (not an affiliate link, I just genuinely adore Cute Camera Co!) My newest (and most beloved) addition to my camera arsenal! This is a super easy-to-use 35mm film camera, and I
  • MacBook Air (13in, 16gb Unified Memory, 512gb SSD, M3 chip) - For photo & video editing on the go! I love how slim & lightweight my laptop is, and it has amazing graphics! I went with this over the MacBook Pro because I didn't need the extra screen space or external ports, and I also do my heavier editing tasks on my desktop. Keep in mind, this is coming from a gal who is in the Android camp in every other aspect - there's a reason why Apple is considered the standard for creative work.
  • HP Pavilion (27in, i9, 32gb RAM, 1TB storage) - My trusty desktop! A HUGE screen (for assistance with getting to see those pesky details), quick, and can handle, Lightroom, Photoshop, and Davinci Resolve like a champ! Also significantly cheaper than a Mac, which definitely helps when wanting a screen this large.

my workflow

  • Unscripted - Everyone needs inspiration! I like to browse Unscripted before clients just to refresh my brain and give me new & creative ideas for prompts, AND to make sure I know sunrise and sunset times for the location I'm shooting. You can also use Unscripted for your CRM, but I have personally found that the Pixieset suite (linked below) suits my needs better in that regard.
  • Aftershoot - Culling is my least favorite thing in the WORLD. So...why not let a program do it for me?? Don't get me wrong, I still go through and do final checks to make sure I'm not missing any gems, but this saves me SO MUCH time. Plus, using my link will get you 10% off your first Aftershoot subscription purchase!
  • Lightroom & Photoshop - I don't need to speak Adobe's praises (they're well-known enough!), but there's a reason that most choose to go with these for photo editing!
  • Davinci Resolve - Free video editing software?? Say less. This sucker is a BEAST, and can look intimidating at first, but is definitely a service that gets easier with use!
  • Pixieset - I use Pixieset for EVERYTHING when it comes to client management. This is my CRM, website host, AND where my galleries are stored. I can't speak highly enough of this platform. Use my link, and you can get $20 off your first month!
